UK citizens / sole UK nationality only

Devonport, Plymouth | 3 days onsite | Immediate opportunities

What if your next engineering role was an opportunity to build something from the ground up?

Join an established international engineering organisation following a significant new project award, with the opportunity to help establish the electrical engineering capability needed to deliver it.

You can be invovled in two ways…..

We’re recruiting two senior electrical engineering professionals to support a major infrastructure programme at a UK dockyard facility.

One will build and lead the permanent engineering team. The other will provide specialist consultancy expertise while that team is being established.

Both appointments are priorities, with the organisation keen to get the right people in place as soon as possible.

Your Role

1. Permanent Senior Electrical Engineering Lead

You’ll take ownership of building and developing the electrical engineering team supporting the programme.

This is an opportunity to shape a new engineering capability, establish technical standards, develop the team and lead the delivery of electrical engineering activities across complex infrastructure and asset development projects.

You’ll work directly with the customer, Technical Authority and wider engineering stakeholders, combining technical leadership with the responsibility of building a capable and effective engineering function.

2. Contract Senior Electrical Engineering Consultant

You’ll provide experienced technical consultancy support while the permanent engineering team is being built.

Working closely with the customer and engineering stakeholders, you’ll help scope and develop electrical engineering solutions, review technical work and support delivery across infrastructure projects.

The emphasis is on bringing immediate technical expertise and sound engineering judgement to the programme during an important period of development.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Supporting electrical infrastructure and asset development projects at a major dockyard facility.
  • Scoping, designing and overseeing modifications to existing facilities and new infrastructure.
  • Providing technical expertise across LV/HV systems, power distribution and associated electrical infrastructure.
  • Engaging directly with the customer and Technical Authority.
  • Reviewing engineering documentation, technical proposals and design solutions.
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant engineering standards, safety requirements and regulatory obligations.
  • Supporting installation, commissioning and testing activities.
  • Working alongside multidisciplinary engineering and project teams.

Are You the Right Fit?

You’ll be an experienced electrical engineer with a strong technical background in complex, highly regulated environments.

We’re particularly interested in people with experience in dockyards, marine engineering, defence, nuclear, oil and gas, major power facilities or large industrial infrastructure.

You’ll need:

  • A degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline, which is mandatory.
  • Substantial experience in electrical infrastructure design, development or modification.
  • Strong technical knowledge of electrical systems, including LV/HV and power distribution.
  • Experience working within demanding safety and regulatory frameworks.
  • The ability to engage confidently with customers, Technical Authorities and other engineering disciplines.
  • Existing UK SC clearance or eligibility to obtain it, subject to applicable nationality and security requirements.

Chartered Engineer status would be advantageous.

For the permanent opportunity, experience leading engineering teams and developing technical capability is particularly important.

For the contract opportunity, we’re looking for someone with the technical credibility to provide specialist advice and make an immediate contribution.

Please indicate whether you’re interested in the permanent or contract opportunity.

We are expecting a high level of interest in this role and whilst we may not be able to respond to every applicant, we will review all applications.
